a lot of you may remember that the last few days before i went to Parris Island, i did not have a mic that worked. the mic i had before that was a piece of shit.

what i want is some recommendation as to a good mic in or under the $100 range that i can not only use with the new sound card i am getting for TS, but that i can also use to get decent recordings of some of my fire arms for a few of the new mods we will make.

any recommendations? i know nothing about mic's. i am picturing something cord bound that is a lot like what comedians use on stage.

You can get what comedians use on stage for $15-20, but I wouldn't recomend it...

OK well, if you are seriously looking to get into recording, then I'd recommend this as a good start:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Shure-SM58-Mic?sku=270101

Those things are durable as hell and pick up pretty well too. They aren't as high-end as you'd probably like them to be, but they won't die on you.

If you're wanting something slightly more high quality, I would look into some of MXL's condenser mics. They're good for voice recording and will pick up a pretty wide range of sound. They aren't known for long durability though. They'll last if you take care of them.

as for the guns, any mic is gonna have probs.. guns have a TON of nasty overtones that make everything that records em kinda suck

but in the 100ish range foxys dead on, get one of the new shure betas (have you tried one of those yet fox? theyre dead sexy... if you do, make sure to check the magnet compared to the non betas)

they shoudl be just barely over 100 bucks & i cant rememer for sure, but i think the one youd want is called a shure beta model 58 (or something similar, im too lazy to look it up)
