Is the main switch in the front plugged into the Mobo? coulda slipped off the pins (I doubt it but maybe) It'll be a single thin and brightly colored wire.

That's all I got, with my limited tech knowledge.

Check the wires and make sure they aren't short circuiting on any metal parts on the inside of the case.

Yup, if you get power to fans it probably isn't the mobo. Start with video and then CPU.

yea if you have a non-onboard video card, try plugging the monitor into the onboard one and see if it says anything, that's what I do whenever my computer doesn't show anything when I turn it on, and there's usually error messages or something when I plug into the onboard card, then I just run it in safe mode and see wtf's wrong

Dual-core gaming is the future man, but if you want to save a few pennies now and upgrade later, then this is next best

And if you wanted something kind of in between:

Stealth's got a good point. That mobo should run most of the newer ddr ram, but not ddr2. Also, be sure your vid card uses pci express x16 and not agp or anything.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138277

a decent price, buuuut, i know shoes well enough that he aint gonna wanna buy a new goddamn video card too, sooooo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138025

should serve you faily well

now if you want a bit of an upgrade path

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157081

is a socket 939 board with an agp slot AND a pci-e

the only down side is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535

is the price point (theres one thats 5 bucks cheaper) so a little more cash, but a decent upgrade from what you had

the problem i see is that socket a seems to be going away... chips for em are a bit harder to find, especially something decent... if you can afford it, id reccomend the socket 939 way (still under 200 bucks)
