i think both sides are pretty stupid.

i find myself using the niggah word quite often but im holding myself back as best i can so dont get shot or anything.

but seriosuly, he doesnt deserve to be fired, i doubt hell be rehired after that, adn that is a word taht is thrown around just as much as dude adn that kid knows it.

but it was still pretty stupid on the teachers part

Here's a funny quasi-related story ... in our english, freshman year, we read "To Kill a Mocking Bird" which was about racism and niggers bla bla bla and everyone was cool with it. We just finished "Huckleberry Finn" which pretty much had nigger on every other page.

When we were done we had a rare class discussion about the use of the word nigger in the book. The teacher, who is dumb as a doorknob, rants for five minutes about how we can say the "n-word" aloud while reading because it's OKAY and all that shit, the entire time while she avoids saying nigger every which way she can.

Then she sums it up with, "Basically guys, we shouldn't have to dance on eggshells around ... the word"

To me, it's just another word. Any word can sound mean if you put the right drive in, regardless of how it's spelt.

Offensive:
"Shut the HELL up mother fucker!"

Not Offensive:
"Heh, this mother fucker can do it."

Same principle

Offensive:
"Don't test me nigger! I'll fuck you up!"

Not Offensive:
"My nigger can hook you up wit sum."

I wish people would be a little more open-minded and understanding of what you just stated, Chasemeister.

After the whole nigger shinding I just mentioned, we had a class discussion on it, and I was appalled at how dumb people were when it came to handling it. Some said it was such a terrible word it should just be removed from the language altogether, some were only mildly unreasonable and said that it's offensive all the time but just a word, a few noted that it depended on connotation, and a very select few brought up the racial double standard of saying the word and how THAT defines it's appropriateness.

Someone argued that the word was OK until it was "blown out of proportion" and that's why it should be wiped off the face of the earth. I then rebuttled with "Dontcha see, it's not the word that changes, it's people around the word that change - so why should people who changed in the past ruin a simple six letters now?" It's a damn word and it can mean whatever the hell you can want it to mean, so take your censorship and shove it in your pie-hole.

Of course the bell rang before the latter part. It's a shame I'm not graded on that argument.

It was OK, had an awkward ending. It carried great messages and had good conveyalllll but it would have been better if it was a little more focused. Then again I think it had good variety with the whole subplot of Boo Radley. That made the story actually interesting and not just another "racism is bad" clone book. Wow, I just disproved my own argument. Balls!

That was a good book, though most of my class hated it and enjoyed the "Great Gatsby"

And the "wit sum" was just trying to add a little more slang, b/c no pasty white boy would be stupid enough to say it and use proper grammar.
