I can run vanilla BF2 just fine, no lag or choppyness. On SF however, whenever I am inside a buidling or other object (liket he ship on Iron Gator) I am so choppy I can't play. Outside night time maps are ok if I have a really good ping.

Any ideas to fix this problem? Can it be fixed? Would altering/removing the movie's from the SF help like they do in vanilla BF2? If so, which ones? Anything? Anyone? Bueller?

well I'd say kick your graphics settings down a notch for those maps Razz but of course I'm the master of lazy quick fixes

I had the exact same issue and here's what i did

I set my refresh rate ingame to match my refresh rate out of game (check this by going to the advanced tab in the display properties)
I also set my graphics to low, and I haven't noticed any more gameplay studders.

lots of people have that issue with Iron Gator.....what screen resolution are you running the game in? kick it down to 800x600 and all should be well

you can keep the higher end graphics by setting the resolution lower

Graphics are set at low and res is 800x600. Not sure i can go any lower than that. Maybe save up for a new graphics card? I'm running the NAVIDIA 5200 right now.

literally thousands of ppl are having the same prob... when i saw how big that carrier was, i knew it would be a big lag bomb... the bf2 engine is just plain not made to handle that kind of interior rendering & honestly, i dont know why they even tried... it even chops a lil on my rig (even with the 2 gigs of ram & only 6 ppl on the map)

that said, im never one to discourage someone from upgrading... ive heard the 6800s run bf2 pretty well & im sure you have more games that youre holding back the settings on somewhere (youd be surprised how good pirates looks with 6x aa & 6x af on Razz it messes up the text tho Sad )

an7yway, long story short: youre not alone... & i still blame EA for rushing this game out the door when it obviously wasnt properly tested (although the red tag glitch is fun as hell when u get into the enemy base) the whole things about as stable as charles manson on a crack binge

Evidently not because I run the 5200 and have no problems at all w/ vanilla BF2.

I have 1gb of ram so I will likely upgrade my video card. My b-day is next month so I'll get something then more likely than not.

Drunken Monkey:  doing well, been building a hobby ranch of my own, got married, no kids, only dogs, sheep and a horse

Comradekil:  so anyway, i wonder how everyone's lives all progressed.. who's in jail? who's grandparents now.. ha life
Drunken Monkey:  and yes....i do miss 1942 aswell, i honestly think it is what drove me to get a M1 garand in real live, and is still my most used rifle
Drunken Monkey:  bots are getting silly
Comradekil:  Sup dudes
Messy Recipe:  the BAR-1918 always felt so good in that game
Messy Recipe:  I miss vanilla 1942 as much as Pirates... need to see if the Origin version (or even original) still has anyone playing sometime

Stealth:  I saw a BF1942 fraps video of a guy jumping out of a plane and RPG'd another plane. I immediately came here for nostalgia. Miss you all.
Messy Recipe:  I've not tried Sea of Thieves... kinda was bummed to learn its servers don't allow many simultaneous players. gimme 32v32 galleon fights
