You know how some sites allow you to watch videos on their sites. Is it possible to save those to your PC somehow? I'm talking about the ones that have the video player integrated into their site (so when you right click the link it goes to a html instead of a video file).

The ones that you can't download are a pain, but I've been able to grab them with a a couple of programs that capture a pre-defined area of the screen - say where the video playback is - kind of like a screen cap proggie. It's ok and sometimes the only way you can save it.

Freeware:
Camstudio

AVIScreen Classic

Commercial Prog:
Hypercam

hate to give birth to an old thread, but I figured out another way to download videos.

Generally (not always, but generally), videos are in (or at least availible in) wmv format. If you visit a page with a video on it, there is a good chance you can view the source of the page in a program such as notepad.
To do this, simply click view-source and hit ctrl+F when the notepad window comes up. Type in wmv and hit enter. It should hi-light the area the video is in. Hilight the URL and copy it.
Next, open up some program you can use to code webpages in. If you only have notepad, open that and insert the standard HTML tags for a webpage, paste the URL somewhere in the body and save it. If you use work, paste the url, press enter and then save it as a webpage. If you are one of the lucky few to have dreamweaver, paste the URL in the body, hilight the url and paste the url again where it says to hyperlink it and hit F12.
Any of these should get you to IE where you can simply right click on the url, click save target as and dl your video.

Turn. Off. Overlay.

Word of caution.
