[Photoshop Tutorial] - [1337 Pixel Cars]

PEN = PENCIL TOOL

This can be done with any Photoshop verisons.

1) First of all, grab a neat, large good picture of the car you're going to make art of.

(NOTE the pictures here are scaled down to cut down slowness)
Example:

2) Now, in photoshop load up the picture. Then copy 'n' paste into new window so you can mess with layers and such.

Next, crop out the car to get rid of the useless space around the car in the picture.

Make a new layer over the picture for the outlining.

To being the outlining, use pen 1x1 pixel, black of course. Being at a point on the edges and use shift+clicking to make lines. Intead of hand-drawing it yourself, which would be very messy.

Hand drawing, see the difference?

After some tracing, your art should look like this:

(I made the white background to check my work without seeing these nasty transparent background)

3) Basic coloring, this part is easy.... use fill-in, make sure you use pen and set limits which colors will fill in. For example, if a panel is missing a pixel, the colors go all over.

So after coloring, it should look like this:

4) Last, the hard part, shading and advanced coloring. Should I explain how shadow and highlights work- lighter colors for highlights and relfect, darker for shading and shadow.. etc, etc.

EDIT: As for the glasses in the headlight, simple make a new layer and "overdraw" the headlight layout. Then use light gray (for non-reflect look), and white (reflect). Trim(Erase) the edge of the glass so that it fits the headligh then change the transparent of the layer and you've made a glass.

So the finalize work:

(For windows I used gradient tool to make window-like effect)

Here's other examples of the process:

need to prolly stick this behind cloudflare or something

Drunken Monkey:  doing well, been building a hobby ranch of my own, got married, no kids, only dogs, sheep and a horse

Comradekil:  so anyway, i wonder how everyone's lives all progressed.. who's in jail? who's grandparents now.. ha life
Drunken Monkey:  and yes....i do miss 1942 aswell, i honestly think it is what drove me to get a M1 garand in real live, and is still my most used rifle
Drunken Monkey:  bots are getting silly
Comradekil:  Sup dudes
Messy Recipe:  the BAR-1918 always felt so good in that game
