Microsoft doesn't like to adhere to any standards - not even their own
(look no further than their email abortions that rarely import / export other versions' data let alone work together - Outlook, Outlook Express, Hotmail, MSN, OWA, etc.)

Then they vomit some product or another on the market - and all the zombies (you and me included) use one version of it or another - willingly, duped, or forced into it and it soon becomes "accepted" but not really a standard.

Meanwhile hard working companies that try to promote and adhere to standards (Netscape - at least at some point) get fubared directly or indirectly by Micro$oft and go away - leaving the shit-pile product that MS made even more widely used. Now having 85% of the free world using it - mostly by dumb asses that hardly realize it - they go and decide to change something that should have never been in there in the first place, but the entire world that choked down their crap in the first place has already decided to live with it and is using it in critical applications and these changes years too late --- to sum it up MS is just a bunch of arrogant fucks not giving a rat's ass about the rest of us.
