Yea, i'm still debating what to take to college. Right now I have this desktop.

When I got it from comp USA They replaced the processor fan to this:

and another stick of 512 mb ram.

right now I have $1000 to spend I would like to either get a laptop, or upgrade this 1. If I get a laptop It must be able to run bf2, and be able to handle 64 player servers.

I voted for laptop, the only caveat is that you have the docking station etc that Brutus mentioned...

Oh and for college you usually don't need an "end-all, be-all" PC does does everything under the sun. You need a machine that you can use to acces the net, write papers, etc etc.
What's your major anyway Computer Science? Shaving Kittens? Alcohol Abuse?

yea, my mouse is usb, and Im g2g a usb keyboard also, and I can spend more than 1k. I just don't know what to do though, I don't wanna take my comp and have it get jacked or broken.

he (or she) would probely get it as far as the door, then try to brak into it to take all the expensive parts.............the only problem is that you need a key to even turn the thing on.........let alone get inside it Laughing

Am I the only smart one and say to get a laptop in order to take it to class so you don't have to write all that shit on paper? If your typing skills are good, you can type more crap on Microsoft Word than writing it down on paper. This is EXCELLENT for studying (which I'll ONLY study for college. Never for anything else. Period.).

well the case is made out of thick steal, so you would need something around at least 15 pouds to get it open. and if you do, you would have probely broken everything any way. and no you cant pick the lock. i dont know why, but they added some of the same shit they pout in VERY expensive cars. something about an electronic signal along with the right shaped key.

+ i was not a lazy ass i could also wire the case to set off an alarm if it is being tamperd with. it is all in there, i just have to hock it up to the mobo.

what is more likely is that they take my $40 mouse, my $300 LCD, and my $350 speekers.

now as for college, if you can get a used laptop with op/s CD for around $200 then u can use that for takeing notes in clas, and writing stuf. then you can spend the rest of the desktop.

if i was in your situation, that is what i would do.

i speak from experience here... taking notes on a laptop is a VERY BAD idea.... try setting one up on one of those lil fold out trays in an auditorium, youre fucked, same with the desks in classrooms, theyre small.... its an all around bad idea, pen & paper FTW
