Ok, so this morning around 3am..yeh I really dont sleep. I decided to clean out my computer case out of bordom. This thing was so damn dusty. I started cleaning the back fan I recently installed, then started removing my vid card and cleaning that fan. Then I went to clean the fan on my heatsink. Thats where the trouble started. I was having a bit of trouble removing the fan...my big hands that tiny case. So, I removed the entire heat sink. In doing this the processor came right with it even though it was locked in still. So I didnt really pay attention and cleaned the fan and heatsink off. Then I realized what had happend while trying to put the processor back. I COULDNT IT WAS STUCK TO THE HEATSINK AND THERE WERE MISSING PINS. I waited till morning and my brother woke up and removed the heatsink from the processor....so I could throw the thing against a wall. Its only going to cost about 200 dollars for a new 3.0ghz p4 but I decided why not just make a new computer. Ive been searching for stuff on newegg, tigerdirect and a few other sites. If anyone has any input on what to get Im all ears. My budget is about 1000 dollars. I can use my monitor, even though i should get a flat one, I need a new keyboard..damn shift keys, and I have a good mouse already.

It seems things break when I clean them like my keyboard, then again this computer cost me about 200 dollars for a monitor, ram, and new harddrive...my mom bought it for me for 500 dollars over 3 years ago.

ok, i came in a lil high, but thats one pimp ass rig

personally, i wouldnt go for the 64 yet, wait a couple years & get a socket 939... itll save you about $100 & give you maybe a 15% performance hit (barely noticable) and you could go cheaper on the hard drive (or not get one if yours is good) and maybe go cheaper on the ram (but the ram i posted is GOOD shit) and the mobo is the same as mine & its quite good, and the chip is a lil better & overclockable (if u feel like it, still pretty good if you dont)

this is what i told crunch... prices may be a bit diff, but its a pretty cood machine

Negative,
Flat screens cannot produce the same quality graphics as a crt, plus they are a hell of a lot more expensive, so get a really nice 19" CRT instead of a 15" lcd, yea it takes up the whole desk, but hey, you still got a kickass monitor.

that is what everyone told me to, but i got a 19" LCD any way, for $300.

before i had a 15" CTR that came with my old HP. now i figure that it was not to of the line, but still, it was rather sharp, and i never sa any ghosting.

the LCD i got, first off looks great. nice clear sharp picture. i play DOOM III and a lot of other really graphics intense games, and i have yet to find a fault with the monitor. the ONLY time i ever sa any ghosting was when playing GTA SA and I hit the nitrous, but I am almost certain that that was a future of the game, to give the impression of speed, not the monitor f ing up, but then I could be wrong.

I am told that the 17” monitor In the same line, is a little bit sharper, but I am more than happy with what I have. And as you can see, by the way I play, that I don’t have any problem taking close in accurate, reflex head shots in bfp.

But the real reson I went for a LCD, was that I just don’t have that much space. Before, when I had the CRT, the furthest back I could get the monitor, was about 3-4” away from the keyboard. Now I can have it where ever I want.

all that i am saying, is that there are good LCD's out there, you just have to do your research.
