ok first of, my new comp is great...no software problems what so ever....

there is a slight hard ware problem though....when my cpu is under 100% load it often runs to 60*C or about 140*F.....it never goes higher but that is still too hot for me....now i know that temps dont mean anything out of context so i will list my setup and stuf...

ok first off.. my room is 85*F...

i have 7 80mm case fans on full

i have a 120mm cpu fan that i try to keep as high as posible...~4-5,000 rpm

there are also 2 fans on my psu

i have used artic silver 5 as my cpu past and aplied (to the best of my knowlage) the way it should be.....verry thin coat....

any way if any one has any low cost ideas to keep my temps down i would be verry happy...

Fan numbers don't mean shit. Tell us the following:

CPU info (have you OC'd at all?)

Location AND direction of EVERY fan.

Case.

QFE because this is actually decent advice, not some tardcart spam. You don't NEED watercooling if you have a good fan system.

Supa, that setup seems kind of dopey because it doesn't compensate for heat rising. I'd rather have the intakes low and the outtakes high, wouldn't you?

Wang he has SEVEN fans. Unless he DELIBERATLEY placed them NOT to move air over anything vital then what the hell else can he do? Some of them HAVE to be in "good" locations. Very Happy I doubt adding or moving fans would help much at this point.

IMO, he is actually doing very well if he runs at 140-degrees in an 85 degree environment considering it would probably run (correctly) around 120-degrees in a 65-degree room.

He can get AC or look at other options IF the temp is even an issue. Monkey, what CPU do you have? Check your CPU literature/specs as new CPUs do (and can acceptably) run very hot.

i thought so too when i did it, but i realized that the air coming out of the psu (at the top) was somewhat cool & the air coming out of the front fan (at the bottom, the very bottom) was quite warm.... im assuming im sucking the heat off the hdd (usually the 2nd biggest source of heat in a case) & blowing it straight out... i think ima put the window fan to in & see what that does....

there are also a lot of vents cut around the top edge of the case to let heat out... that along with the psu fan (its an 80mm case fan just screwed to the outside of the psu) takes the heat off the top & my 120mm in the back blows RIGHT on the cpu, so im pretty good

question

where is the box located in the room? Is there a free flow of air around it, or do you have it all up in a corner in dead air?

you can just point a room fan at the box and it will help tremendously

and turn on the AC while you're at it

ok this is my case..as people mention the fans are week but you cant here one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118115

that is my cpu fan and it does move A LOT of air.

edit: hmm it looks like whoever built this case had the 2 fans neer the hdd placed them as intake fans.....it might help if i turn them around.....

oh and my cpu is a AMD 64 3500+ here is the cpu on newegg

ok im on the AMD site but i cant find what i need this is the closest iv gotten so far....i cant click on the links

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869,00.html

i just had a thought.......becaus my cpu already has all the power i need for now, should i consider UNDERCLOCKING it to cut down on the heat.....i just found somthing on the site about a much older cpu for another socket size and 70*C is the atomatic shut down temp for that cpu........i know that that does not mean that it is the same for my cpu but.............it still is not a good sign.

edit: !gwspam@ fox

OK I got a great idea, this will keep your cpu temp around 90* probably a little lower, also it is a very cheap alternitive:

First what you do is turn your computer off.

Next you keep it off.
This will actually save you $ on the electric bill Shocked

I know am a genious, what can i say......
