This is my first avatar made on photoshop. I'm pretty new to photoshop, I just did this in class. Tell me what you think, be blatantly honest. Smile

That skeleton was used as source material in a SD's avatar too - though I cant remember which one. Razz

But if you dont mind sharing... Smile

I would add a more pronounced left shoulder. He looks like a bust-type statue.

I would add a dark outer glow to the skeleton to give it some depth.

I would burn in some of the dark areas and object borders on the skeleton - again for depth.

I would darken some of the less reflective areas, like the beard, as the consistent reflectivity also makes him look like a statue made from one material - and perhaps an overly shiny one at that.

I would noise to the skeleton so he looks painted too.

Oh, and smudge the teeth out a little so they dont look as perfectly straight, like manufactured.

Here is a total quicky showing what i meant.

EDIT: you might also want to add a wooden stock to that pistol instad of it all being metal. I know you didnt make that picture but it doesnt seems a little off being metal like that. Just my opinion. Very Happy

Thanks for all the points and tips, Brutus I tried to change the stock on the pistol to wooden but it wasn't happening. Turned out to look like he was holding a shoe. Confused

I'll size it down and see how it turns out.

EDIT: Arr I ran into a problem. My image is only this big:

It said the file size was too big, so I sized it down to this:

Still says it's too big Mad

Any ideas? I didn't want to make it so small that you can't read Chronic.

If it's saying the filesize is too large, it's talking about the number of bytes, not the dimensions. It only complains about that if you try to upload the avatar here, using either "Upload Avatar from your machine" or "Upload Avatar from a URL." Use the third option, "Link to off-site Avatar," and put in the URL to the bigger of those two (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/cocosmom/aldjal.jpg).
