Seriously, cards? Just when I thought the stupidest shit you can do is to add some gaming rank and have tuns of stuff advertised as free TF2 hats with games you buy. Now this...

I just wish there could be a simple and no bullshit Steam for the rest of us who don't give a shit about your social wannabe facebook pokemon Steam experience.

agree with you, and they give you this false impression that you can actaully unlock them or earn them, but you only get 3 until gaben forces you to collect them.

If only there was a way for someone to not use them or give a fuck. Being forced to know they exist is such a burden Wink

Perhaps someday the TF2 characters will get bicycles and we can put these cards between the spokes to make them sound like motorcycles.

I'm grasping at straws here.

Precisely this... I'm getting the games I want from the steam sale from the money of the fools who bought my trading cards.

I'm not complaining really. Free steam wallet funds. Sold a foil for $5, got L4D2 on sale. Good pickup since that game is still going strong.

So you can actually sell out this stuff and someone is willingly buying them and get nothing in return? Do people realize they are buying nothing with real life money?

I have some cards already. I just bought the game and played it. I got "achievements" by just buying the thing. So instead of buying the games and get these cards, they buy the cards so they don't have to buy the games. It's fucking genius. Gabe must be suffocating from his burgers by now.

These cards are everywhere. Big banners on top of the games "CARDS". This is so stupid, I can't believe it. Even the idea of trading cards is so dumb. Soon there will be people adding you and messaging you "hey would you like to trade some cards with me", like some sellers on phone who keep calling you, the most miserable job you can get and the most annoing one too.

Its actually fucking brilliant. Some people collect these cards. These people either buy other steam games adding more revenue to their market just to collect the cards, even if they don't give a fuck about the games (who knows maybe they will like them) which not only stimulates the actual market but the steam virtual market as well. Then people do things like cash these cards in for steam sales (like many clever CT's have figured to do) or just collect them hoping for some eventual reward, or just because collecting is what collectors do. Point is, it doesn't matter. All sorts of people win because of steam trading cards (mostly the ones profiting off trading silly cards they got for free) but no one profits more than steam/valve. And in that respect, its a good fucking idea

People are willing to spend money on these cards --> I gain $5 with enough cards --> I save $5 to spend on a sandwich for a lunch

Entirely pointless overall.
