On the other side of the coin, the universe is very much against life as we know it, constantly trying to wipe life on Earth out of existence. But we're damn resilient.

If the universe smacks earth hard enough to wipe out all life here, it'll say "meh - i've got lots of other life in other places"

There's probably life out there for that reason.

But I'd like to note that the conditions to support life here may not be the same elsewhere. There may be a world with high gravity and with energy-like creatures with no physical form somewhere in the far reaches of our universe.

I get excited by the possibilities.
