Are you trying to say that God didn't create the universe?

Just finished reading this while I was supposed to be doing school work. The comment section was pretty chill for an article all about religion.

I didn't even give a second look to the comments section before you mentioned it. I thought the article itself was an interesting read, but some of the people in the comments have some very interesting things to say, actually.

Keyword some. Some of the people in the comments are just idiots.

To be fair, that can be said for just about every comment section ever, of all time.

lol - actually I believe that for all the shit to happen here on earth, and how it happened, and all the billions of organisms that live INSIDE us, making our life possible...and we are able to put together more than 2 coherent successive thoughts, let alone words... this did not happen by chance.

Many people, myself included, agree with you. This is the glory of merging science and religion, and not having one discount the other, either way. There is wisdom to be found in both, and I feel that you have to be either willfully ignorant or tragically isolated to ignore it one way or the other

I'm not gonna say I'm hugely religious or anything, but it's definitely something I'm glad we all have in our lives, even if it's Athiesm. The way I see it, and the way I believe Constantine said, they needed a religion they could base laws off of, but would still ring true in the hearts of the people and wouldn't just be following it because, well, it's a law. And that's a pretty important establishment.

what strikes me is there are so many things that HAD to have happened, and have to be a certain way in order for life to even exist...

http://www.reasons.org/articles/design-evidences-in-the-cosmos-1998

For earth, one as simple as the axis tilt gives us seasons and make most of the planet's surface habitable to a wide range of life forms... the moon has absorbed many a life killing hits from comets and asteroids....the iron core is necessary for our magnetic field shield...it just goes on and on..

But there being no empirical evidence to the existence of other universes, we must assume this is the only universe (otherwise our imaginations of what might be will continue to create seemingly infinite possibilities).

Therefore, this being the only universe, the chance coincidence that all the required factors are in place, point to the 'objective' of the universe is to beget and sustain life, in order for it (the universe) to be observed.

And I conclude: The universe is narcissistic.
