I recently got word of a mini-series kickstarter for Nightwing, and I was excited. For those unfamiliar with the DC mythos:

Nightwing is the adult persona of Richard Grayson, formally known as the first Robin. He took on the suit in order to distinguish himself from the shadow of the bat after he and Batman had a falling out. At one point he donned the cowl and became Batman in the absence of Bruce.

So they released the trailer and a small teaser, and I was very eager to watch it. I am very sorry I did.

The suit looks awesome, the eye glow is made via lenses, and he has his signature bike. Okay, so we are done here. Good job everyone! Oh, wha--oh there is more. My bad, let's take a look.

Acting: It isn't natural at all, there is no emotion behind it. It's really scripted and you don't even have the feeling the Oracle and Nightwing had a previous fling, at all. The dialogue is generic, and extremely out of character. The fight scenes look as if they were made by star-wars kid. For a man trained by The God Damn Batman, master of all martial arts; he looks as if he took a free self-defense class from a hobo in an alley.

Story: We have no backstory for anything. Why is he going there? Why is Jason Todd killing these people? Why are Jason Todd and Dick Grayson enemies? Yeah, no idea...

Continuity: I had a laugh at this. At one point, someone pulls a knife. No idea who until the next scene we see Dick stumble away and pull out a (CLEAN) knife, he then drops it to be full of blood. He staggers back, Jason Todd (who is the enemy by the way) punched him to make him spit blood. We know this by the rather loud spit sound we hear. Oh look blood, next scene is shot from a different angle and the blood is gone? Oh my. I have seen better Continuity in a pre-school play.

Overall: This is terrible. It doesn't even have any hope and yet it has a kick-starter. If you want to check out the first episode, be my guest all though it is very terrible.
