I am all for nocrits / nodmgspread / nobulletspread.

I feel that after playing in UGC, where the configs require nocrits and such, I can vouch for these changes. Don't you hate it when you're in an advantageous or even grounded fight, and your opponent gets a crit to win? Even on the other end of that, I know at least for me, I feel less satisfied to get a random crit kill. It's just undeserved bullshit.

And I know some of you are thinking oh, it's just Courier wanting to make more escapes and kill us more. However, I truly believe that no random crits improves your gameplay.

Messy introduced me to a public server that has no random crits, and from what I've seen, it attracts people who are better at the game. The way I see it, it would be a nice stepping stone for people who want to improve or get into higher level game play.

I get the whole UGC configs on a pub server appeal, trust me I do. However here is my problem with it and something we need to consider:

Our second server hasn't seen much use due to whole being locked 90% of the time and the constant switching of server modes. If we were to put the server to this mode, WE would need to build a community on it and furthermore we CANNOT under any circumstance keep switching stuff around on it. If we were to set up this type of server it would have to be permanent, except for maybe a night or two for holiday events. Lobbies would have to be a thing of the past because we need to build interest for the server.

At least that is what I think.

I make a motion that we change the MvM server rotation to Advanced difficulty maps for the following reasons.

-Most TF2 versed members of our clan are skilled enough to handle the increased difficulty.
-The TF2 community as a whole is continuously moving on to the advanced difficulty missions, making our involvement that much more timely. It would be nice to be one of the servers for serious challengers.
-The wait time for public games of the advanced difficulty is still long compared to the normal ones.

Went ahead and did this, it's currently just on koth_king since that had the most support here, though we're planning on making it a small KOTH rotation with voting at the end of the round... just need to look into how that voting part of SourceMod works.

Still working with host on getting replay boy to not take up a slot, like with the Egypt server.

Koth King has a learning curve to it and is definitely an acquired taste, but I think people will enjoy it once they get used to it. I'm looking forward to some Sawmill again.

Messy and I were talking about this a few days ago and had narrowed it down to a rotation of 3-4 maps.

Possible maps:
Lakeside
Viaduct (pro would be good but that might interfere with quick play)
Sawmill
Harvest
King

All of these are pretty small and would be best suited with a 9v9 setup. Too many people on koth maps can ruin em pretty quickly.

A koth rotation keeps things fresh and breaks the monotony of Egypt one nicely....

Replays now working without stealing a slot. Host needed to add a launch option and then it just didn't stick for some time, but it's all good now.

That's the same rotation that I play on the LotusClan server minus Nucleus. Harvest, Sawmill and Viaduct are the best ones to date.

The problem with Harvest is that it stagnates. In my experience it starts out as a deathmatch, but as soon as a team sets up a level three on the side, not the cliff side, and they just sit there building more and more.

I can imagine a stalemate with a Highlander, but smart and plentiful demos and soldiers get above the point quite easily to rain misery upon point campers. I like to heal on the point and help defend the engineer who sets up his outpost and that's the one thing that kills us outright every time, sentries be damned.

That map is also wonderful for B-list builds. Gunslinger engineers are often MVPs, Demoknights really build steam if they're patient and I see scouts of every kind. I love KotH because of the creativity it encourages and Harvest is an outstanding example.

I honestly can say I've never met a Koth map I didn't like to some extent. They're smaller than CP maps, much more fast paced, and they reward creativity that a different style of map might punish. I support a Koth rotation on a second server in a big way, just to get out of that sandy hellhole we call egypt.

That takes away the Quickplay option and that's the biggest contributor to the server's population.

To be fair, the population peaked at like five yesterday. Need to kick it off with a base of like 6 people or so for some time to keep it going... and I need to make it a rotation etc...

It *might* be possible to have the server lie about what map it's running to keep quickplay going though, dunno -- it's possible to make it lie about the nocrits tags and such for the same purpose.
