If you could change anything or add anything in the mod or its maps (within limitations of the BF1942 engine of course), what would it be?

Well I still can't get a hold of that galleon model.

But I made a map where there's a middle island that acts like an air support base. And the galleons could fly. And pirates could have jet packs to board each other's ships for a unique twist.

More unique weapon packs for different maps. A specialized knives pack would be cool. I have always liked the modern bfp skins too.

Fast balloons - that handle like planes

Balloon position switching, you've added 5000 balloon busters yet screwed loons out of useful existence except when <5 ppl on a side.

The whole thing was nerfed for basically one map - instead of taking the balloon out of that map. Still pisses me off, can you tell?

I would add variety. As it stands, the game is pretty stable, but it would be accentuated well with new content.

Like Jimmy said, more weapon packs would be interesting. Hell more weapons would be cool too, but that would be a lot of work for the occasional pick-up kit.

How about cannons that can switch between regular and grapeshot firing modes? I wouldn't do that for the regular 24pdr since that would screw up the current gameplay, but you could add a new type.

It's possible -- just have a right-click and left-click fire, each one a different projectile.

You can make something just as good with sleight-of-hand involving rotational bundles. FH did something similar to make a flak cannon switch between AT and AA rounds. Just make two rotational bundles and have them rotate around a pivot point way underground. Attach one firearm to each and make them move so fast that they switch positions with a single tap of w or s. I made a catapult for siege_mw that switches between flaming and non-flaming shots this way. It has issues, but they stem from the fact that it can move...

USAF, that would be so much simpler. But I can't figure out how to make the primary and alternate fire on a vehicle use the same reloading timer. i.e. they should not fire independently of one other.

Hmm good point. The rotating trick seems clever. I assume both the current and far-away barrels fire at the same time?

Yes, but one is like 200 m (or more if you want) underground so no one cares

Only issue is that the 3rd person camera might zoom waaaay out to encompass the "entire vehicle." I'm not sure if it will if the rotational bundles have no geometry.

2 things were always missing. The ability to create caves and a better variety of weaponry, especially swords. I still lust after the notion of a rapier in BFP.

Actually a rapier would be pretty awesome. Then you could have an interesting fight between slashing and piercing weapons.

The hit boxes would be like the same. It'd be like the cutlass, just a different model.

Not necessarily.

You could give the rapier a longer range and make it only shoot one projectile straight ahead. The cutlass currently shoots 3 projectiles in a horizontal arc (it represents a horizontal swing.)

This way, if you have a rapier, you'd want to keep your distance. With a cutlass, you'd want to get in close. It could actually be really awesome if balanced right.
