Post your Favorite Series, Authors, Genres, Anything!

I wanna know what you like and why.

Current Favorite:

I'm in love with Patrick Rothfuss. A Wise Man's Fear and Name of the Winds are an amazing, fresh look at fantasy. Science mixed in with philosophy and straight up heroics. The protagonist, Kvothe (pronounced Quoth) is a cynical, sarcastic genius that gets himself into trouble as often as others do it for him. It's honestly my favorite Fantasy series, ever.

I've been reading the Wheel of Time series in the wait for the next Rothfuss book (Current estimate is 8 billion years) and it's a fascinating read. Politics, magic, a great battle between Light and Shadow. WARNING: IF PEOPLE CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OTHER SEX ANNOYS YOU IN THE SLIGHTEST, THIS SERIES WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO EAT YOUR TOENAILS.

I never want to read the phrase "Tugged on her braid" ever again.

My favorite series are:

"Song of Ice and Fire" -George R. Martin
"Lord of the Rings" -J.R.R. Tolkein
The Gabriel Allon spy series - Daniel Silva
The Pendergast series - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Most of my reading are fantasy novels and spy thrillers. I also greatly enjoy the DC comic books, particularly The New 52 Batman series.

Like many people, I've always wanted to read the classics. Unlike the vast majority of those people, I have enough boring lunch breaks where I've actually put a dent in that resolution. I'll be reviewing them soon just to give all of you an idea of which ones may enrich your lives and which ones (perhaps most) are a waste of your time.

In the meantime, I will say that Crime and Punishment by Fyodr Dostoevsky is my favorite book and my intellectual junk food centers around Marvel comics. Frank Castle is my hero.

Fantasy - Wheel of time, everything Tolkein, a Song of Fire and Ice series. A big fan of Kurt Vonnegut. Also, randomly, if you love star wars even half as much as I do, you will find the Rogue Squadron series of books very entertaining

Favorite book of all time is The Count of Monte Cristo. Some other favorites off the top of my head: Catch-22, Les Miserables, For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Been Reasing ASOIAF the past few months but had to stop in the middle of book four because of classes and such...will likely be finishing that and the next one while I'm off this winter.
