You know, this go me thinking. I bet Microsoft knows this.

So they don't invest in the next OS, use it as testing, release it so suckers buy it, and then learn from it and make the next OS stable.

To be fair Vista isn't that much different from Win7. At least for normal users.

I use Windows 8 and I am impressed by how fast it is. It's not clunky or hard to use. You'd have to be an idiot not to understand how to use it. It's not drastically different than Windows 7 except for the home screen with all the icons. Everyone seems to hate new things, like new Facebook layout, new Windows layout, new Steam layouts. It's ridiculous.

For what it's worth, the new youtube layout still sucks.

If there was even a slight chance of switching before, that went out the window when I read this--

http://tech.slashdot.org/story/12/06/28/1656240/why-microsoft-killed-the-windows-start-button

I use my desktop as an actual desktop (i.e. only files I'm actively working on are there), have a couple things on the taskbar I use all the time, and use the Start menu a ton... quick link to Documents and such and to my folder for what used to be desktop shortcuts, without cluttering up anything else

I pin more shit at the top of my start menu than I do my task bar.
If I put those on my taskbar, I'd have 30 applications pinned.

So has anyone upgraded to Win8 yet? They are offering half price upgrades from WinXP-Win7 to Win8. I was thinking about getting it, but not sure is it worth it. I'm also thinking about buying Windows phone.

I keep shortcuts on my desktop for random things and my Start menu is reserved for 3D software suites and Photoshop to keep things organized. Windows needs to be built for professionals, not Facebook addicts.

I almost feel as if they're trying to steal some of apple's "Hip" crowd the way it's been described to me. Which I could not stand.

They are trying to do that. But this thing what they are going for is something should be tried atleast. Same OS on your mobile and home computer. Microsoft has upped the game and is on a serious ride. Xbox made it, Surface is the only interesting tablet that I would buy if I had to and now the mobile OS seems to be the most efficient one out there. Microsoft might seem like some old dinosaur with hundreds of thousand workforce, but in this case it's a good thing.
