All the USBs on my computer after getting rid of the exstension cable I was using for power in the first place so I could make use of a different outlet that wasn't shot to hell due to bad wiring. Basically i've tried everything, including getting my father's help because he basicslly.... Eh, I can't really explain what he does for a living, but he does a lot of technical stuff for the Coast Guard.

But we can't find a reason for it to just not work. It was, perfectly fine beforrhand.

If anyone had any idea it'd help. Can't get very discriptive as all I know are basics of how to operate, maintain, repair.

Typing all this from phone sucks.

Drivers?

Slightly off topic: I used to work with updating antivirus software. Those can do some really fucked up things. I've seen an antivirus software like Norton completely erase a hard drive, prevent a CD writer from working, change the pixels on the screen to a green hue... and the list goes on.

Worth checking.

If only I could get into the computer, the monitor stays on idle and mouse/keyboard don't register.

@Stealth yeah, I've had some weird things happen with anti-virus software too. Some of those people are crooks. Block any and all internet usage after my free trial of norton antivirus ran out, the only thing it would let me do was access norton's website to pay for the full upgrade. Uninstalling it was a bitch but once I finally pulled it off, everything immediately worked fine. Crazy

Yeah man, Norton was by far the biggest problematic antivirus I have ever dealt with.

Norton is a either a virus itself, or it's extremely buggy, or they're intentionally doing that bullshit to get you to update it.

Likely: All of the above.

@Kirov

That sucks considering everything is USB nowadays... I take it you don't have a spot for one of those old mouse and keyboard plugins either.

It's also possible there was a BIOS problem. I would try resetting them if you haven't already.
