I bought copies for two friends. Anybody else spend some money?

Sidenote: who's going to have some tf2-style halloween fun this weekend?

Sins of a Solar Empire 50% off

And HoI3 is still full price for the US store. Dunno if I can buy the UK one or not (and exchange rates make it cost more, but still discounted from base US price) Though HoI2 still does it for me anyway...

Impulse

Impulse is good for both games it has that I want to play. It does implement DD the best out of any service out there, probably.

Steam's great, too, especially when they have epic sales (like now.) Too bad I have many, many games I need to find time to play yet. Smile

Now that's a must buy.

And HoI3 can be bought anywhere, it costs 10-11$ or even less without taxes. Shoudn't matter as I have bought games that were on sale in the US store but not in the UK.

6.50 pounds is almost 11 usd atm. Still a good deal, I suppose.

You really need to stop making me aware of the great deals on games I don't have time to play! Laughing

Now when I bought my first game on Impulse I have to say this is clearly the best one there is. After all that Valve fanboy bullshit about stardock I avoided using it all this time. It offers everything Steam does, but doesn't require you to run it while playing, can install games where you want and is a lot lighter than the massive Steam. Plus it look's better and is more flexible than Steam. Downloaded over 1mb/s constantly.

It feels like everything I want Steam to be, light, flexible, fast, install location, works like a client and not all end DRM, can buy games fast, use €-$ converter = fair price, no downtimes with service which locks me from my games, no Steam updates for game integrations(CoDmw2, L4D2 daily client side updates Evil or Very Mad )...

Well the game was just released.

Also You can get the designers cut from Impulse client for East India Company for free. It automaticly notices East India company and once downloaded adds the designer version to it. It's a free DLC.

L4D1 is 75% off from Steam. Might want to pick that up if you have never played it.

Order Of War is also 75% off, but the demo didn't convince me. Too simple click and attack game, no wonder the game didn't sell anything. Too bad for being Square Enix first strategy game.

I feel like an idiot and a little pissed off(mainly because I spent couple of hours for this).

I bought BF2 from Steam just to play the FH2 mod. Well I didn't read anything from FH help forums to realize that Steam is full of shit again. I can't launch FH2 from BF2(where it does launch) because you get shader problems(black and white screen) and when I do a workaround for that(can't play vanilla BF2, but shader problem for fh is gone) punkbuster kicks me off from the servers. This is Steam version's problem.

Should I ask for refund? I mean the game works, but just can't play the mod, is that enough to warrant refund in your opinion?

Definitely ask for one. Someone fucked up the game's .EXE if only the Steam version does that so it's a damaged product.
