I wrote a letter to the Minneapolis Star Tribune late last week in response to the situation in Iran. My letter was even selected as the letter of the day and I didn't find out about it until this morning when I bumped into a friend's dad on my way to work. How weird is that? I normally wouldn't defile the CT forums with political editorial nonsense, but I think this kicks ass for me.

I've grown tired of readers' comments on President Obama's lack of action concerning Iran. If these people had any knowledge of Middle Eastern politics predating the last two weeks, they would realize that if the president were to openly oppose the election results and accuse the Iranian government of fraud, it would only fuel their claims that America is secretly encouraging the uprising in an effort to destabilize their government and replace it with a pro-American one. Claims like these have caused mistrust of America in the past and will continue to be effective if we play into them. Obama has no leverage to use. The reality is that the only way he might be able to pressure the Iranian regime now may be to continue pushing for reconciliation with other nations in the region. He is already attempting this with Syria, and I wish him luck.

I know politics is taboo here but you wrote a good word. I'm sure most agree with you but you stated your opinion very well and raised good points - regardless of what you're arguing, it's good to see proactive Cut Throats tearing up everything. It makes me proud to see how much awesome shit you do on a regular basis and this is no exception good sir.

Nice on getting published.

I think most people don't understand that Obama is not really an idealist. He has to resort to realpolitik in this situation because quite frankly it's the smartest way out.

Congrats on getting your word out there, and I'm in agreement with what you wrote. I've had a few debates with friends in the past days about it, and you about summed up my entire argument in less words than I could have.

I disagree in a sense that basically any arguement we used for invading Iraq could be used for Iran now. But with U.S' hands tied behind their back they wont be able to commit that's why U.N should step up now and do something about Iran. I am not calling for an invasion of Iran but to say Obama shouldn't condemn them,is like saying Obama shouldn't deny that he is a lizardman because that will give fire to the nwo conspiracy.

All they are good for is passing non-binding, useless resolutions.
