A couple things that require you to be careful:

-BC42 likes to rebuild all the .CON files in your map everytime you click save. This isn't an issue if you exclusively work with Battlecraft's tools and do not edit the files with the .CON editor or by unpacking with WinRFA and editing via text editor. However, if you include things such as custom objects, then it will overwrite the changes you make when you click save.

It is recommended to therefore do everything that requires BC42 first, and only then begin to make changes to the .CON files yourself. If there are already custom objects or other edits to the files in your map and you need to add new objects or spawns or modify positions of existing ones, place them in BC42, but do not save, and copy the position values over to the relevant .CON file.

-When mapping for a mod, BC42 adds a line to the Init.con file for vanilla. This is found in Battlefiled 1942\Mods\bf1942\Init.con. This file should look like this, including the empty line at the end:

Code:
game.CustomGameName BF1942
game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/
game.setCustomGameVersion 1.61
game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com"

Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik"
Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik"
Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik"
Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik"
Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik"
Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik"

By default it is 445 bytes.

BC42 will add an extra line that makes vanilla also initialize the Pirates mod, and your game will crash if you attempt to play on a vanilla server without first removing this line.

When you delete an object, occasionally it will delete that object and one object back in it's history.

Say you place a house and then a chair in that order. If you don't want the chair, you select it and hit delete. It will sometimes delete the house too as well as the chair you selected. Locking the object to the world does nothing to prevent this.

I typically would then place yet another chair which I will call chair 2.

Then I would select chair 2 and delete it. It should delete chair 1 as well.

[BB]Piccolo:  I'm amazed I actually still knew my login. We Black Buccaneers certainly had a special relationship with you Cut Throats. Nothing like a fierce rivalry to make the battlefield exciting, eh? :)
