Pirates in HL2!

Question:

I currently do not own HL2 or anything with Steam. If I want to play this (and any future pirate mods of the game), what exactly do I need to buy? Do I just buy HL2? Can I get Day of Defeat Source instead? Etc.

Just buy HL2 I would think, PVK2 is just like bfp for source. I just bought HL2 a year ago or so, and that was all I needed other than downloading mods.

Yea, I think you need HL2 because PVK is a mod for it.

You need HL2. I have CS:S multiplayer pack (DoD:S, CS:S and HL2DM) and mods don't work.

I'm fairly sure that if you have HL2DM or CSS(and you've installed the mod) then you can right click it in your "My Games" list, click on "Advanced Properties" and type in "-game C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SourceMods\pvk2" or wherever the sourcemods folder is, I can't remember much from memory. Then when you open HL2DM or CSS the mod should load.
