uh hi I'm hoping to build a computer for my girlfriend, which I plan to personally deliver to her this xmas.
I want it to be as cheap as possible, yet capable of running bf2 with no problems.

Heres what I have planned for parts so far:
https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=247024 -motherboard

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80701-2 - processor

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=168087 -case

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=83433-1 - ram

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=290236
- Soundcard

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=604614
- Windows (NOTE: I'm not sure, but i would have to see if I could get this one for free/at a reduced price from work, probably not but i'd have to check)

https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101571 - Hard disk

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1243209&CatId=1560 -graphics card (actually, this Idon't plan on buying... I already got one lying around)

CD Drive: I have an old CD/DVD rom in my old dell which I plan on salvaging.

Ok any suggestions on reducing the cost (besides removal of sound card)? I just want somthing that can run bf2 without trouble.

Most software apps STILL do not suport the 64-bit architecture this processor is capable of handling so I personally would probably spend the money somewhere else still.

I am not familiar with that graphics card but if it only costs $50 then I would view that as a possible chokepoint for graphics-intensive games and do some homework just to be sure.

Wang, I read his post... If he had an old processor laying around THAT might be an issue too. He asked our opinions. Mine would be "dont buy that processor/mobo and consider a new graphics card INSTEAD of just what you have laying around". He is obviously spending money... WTF is wrong with that response? Why don't YOU contribute something positive there Brainiac? Maybe us low-lifes can bask in the warmth of your wisdom instead of the heat of teh flamage. Rolling Eyes I guess that makes US 0 for 3? Very Happy

Royal, I would also consider using tigerdirect, newegg, and amazon if shopping for parts online. But I suspect you already know that...

I already came up with half the list Very Happy

I also told Royal what Firefox said - the sound card is overkill. I thought the processor was a bit overkill and he should just go with an OEM processor but he doesn't want to buy a seperate heatsink.
